Detective Comics #1063....4.5 Stars

Detective Comics #1063

I'm generalizing here, but I've always liked Detective Comics a little more than Batman, because although mellower, it has more of a Detective vibe to it (hence the name)  as the stories often revolve around Batman using his investigative and forensic skills to solve unanswered questions, at least historically with the best of writers....and Ram V, well he's currently showing us that he belongs in that category.

The story starts out with Batman visiting a now reformed Harvey Dent, (One of my favourite Batman villains) to discuss a new hidden but emerging threat that appears to be secretly harnessing its power in the shadows of Gotham's underworld, one that Bruce Wayne as Batman is intent on finding out who or what it is, and if DC's November solicitations are any hint, than it is one that is going to be supercool.

I can't tell you how well this is written, but then again I don't want to hype it up either. Expect a slower tempo than Chip Zdarsky's Batman, but like apples and oranges they are both equally good, if not, delectable. As for the backstory, same story by Spurrier, a little more engaging this time, he does his job of filling in the final pages, after the master has written.
