The series has been cancelled and it's getting panned left and right on websites, as well as you tube and comic fan forums, so although I am tempted to give it 3.5 stars on the issue alone, I'm kind of shying on the three star side, as I don't really know what it is that's upsetting people so much, but after reading it, I've got an idea. 

To my knowledge there is no ongoing regular Titans series at the moment, which means long time fans of the Titans are watching Dick, Donna, Victor, Roy, Raven ect take a back seat to the junior heroes. In short, DC is once again not giving the customers what they want, thus we have a Titans series that appears to be pretty much Young Justice (I'm speculating here, I haven't been following the comic) 

I think a Young Justice ongoing series is great, but in all honesty, you have to have a regular Titans series running separately at the same time or Titans fans or going to get PO'd, as they don't want to have to read about their favourite characters having to share, or take a back seat to the junior heroes, which seems to be the case here. 

As for the story itself, I didn't find it that bad. I actually really enjoyed the Young Justice League Dark characters. I thought they were all really cool with lots of potential, and I love how these young heroes deciding to take things into their own hands, find themselves in a heap of trouble because they've just unknowingly teleported themselves to Apocalypse; the last place in the DC universe junior super heroes want to find themselves.  

Finally, I must confess, I've been basking in a little schadenfreude watching fans get upset over the merger of Beast and Cyborg. It's obviously temporary, and has been done to bring some romantic tension into the story. As someone who has literally (with the exception of Constantine) had all 6 of my favourite male heroes either killed off ,or go through a bout of murderous insanity with DC having no initial intention of bringing them back.....I just have to say to these fans,  dial me up when that happens to Cyborg or Beast Boy, otherwise chill out.

  Aquamen #1 First off I hate the name. There technically should only be one Aquaman, and as one of DC comics big six heroes he should be headlining his own title, both for marketing and brand reasons.  However let's address the elephant in the room. It's long since been believed that DC feels there is a lack of racial diversity in their titles (This is an indisputable fact), and that they've been planning to rectify this by replacing current white male heroes. (There is evidence to validate this line of thinking, ie Firestorm, Atom, Mr. Miracle, Blue Beetle/The Question, but a lot of it is speculative as well)  At any right, I would have preferred at the very least Aquaman and Aqualad as the title, as we've already seen what happens to comic sales when you have a partitioned fanbase preferring one of the two Flash's, Firestorm's or six of the Green Lantern's, so you can imagine what will happen to Aquaman sales once one is headlining and the other is not. Aquamen #2..... 2.5.... stars

  Aquamen: Issue 2 It's no secret that both DC and Marvel have been taken to the woodshed by Scholastic and Manga of late, when it comes to selling comics or graphic novels that are marketed towards pre teen and teen readers, but here at least, is one area where DC is outselling Marvel. When one reads Aquamen 2, one gets the sense that the writing is targeted for younger teenage readers, which in theory isn't a bad thing, except one major problem... Aquamen is designated for the direct market, and I'm unaware of where comics can be bought for younger readers these days outside of comic stores, for the days of finding a plethora of comics on the twirling magazine racks at your corner store is long gone, so I'm not sure how much of these printed issues are going to get in the hands of 12 years olds, which brings us to problem two.... Tim Drake Robin #1....3 Stars

Tim Drake Robin # 1                                                    No I'm not going to give this 1 star, like a lot of comic fans would like me to do, but I do sympathize with Tim Drake fans. Having one of your favourite heroes continuity changed for the sake of gender politics, and then tossed to a writer who has a non conventional writing style, only to be called a bigot on reddit or comic forums when you protest, is a really shitty thing for DC to do to Tim Drake fans. I was never a Tim Drake fan, by the time the  90's were in full swing I was done with sidekicks, but I always recognized he was an extremely popular character. Not many titles reach 50 issues let alone 183! Which is what the Robin title reached under Tim Drake, so you think that DC would clue in and realize that there was a big market out there for another Tim Drake run, but DC never learns do they.
